Itinerary description
Basically for my viewing pleasure! Karakol Ski Base is currently the best ski resort in Kyrgyzstan; I hear that there are plans for a larger ski resort close to Bishkek. I would not recommend travelling to Kyrgyzstan for this skiing, as I would suspect that the snow cover is frequently minimal. In Bishkek and adjacent mountains, most precipitation comes in October/November and then again in March. If the same is the case in Karakol, this season will have a very poor snow cover. Three days into the season, ground was already showing in a few places.
That said, the skiing is good and when the fourth chairlift is repaired (by January 2015) there should be quite a few more options. Again a trip with TUK (www.tuk.kg)
