Sunday 31.03.2019 - Stage 2: Krækkjahytta - Heinseter
A very quiet stage today; something even monotonous. It's 9 o'clock in the morning. We went out with all the clothes on to go to look for the skis and minipulkas in the torkerom, a building half buried under the snow in front of the shelter. A terrible wind blows while the sun, in the snow-laden air, draws phantasmagorical figures. We equip ourselves and set sail to the southeast, to Storekrækkja. At the end of the lake, on the left bank of the lake, we find the facilities of the Fagerheim fjellstugu (a small village at 1,156 m) that we passed by, until we reached the road that we crossed at the height of a small bridge. Behind this a trace marked with sticks turns clearly to the right in the direction of Samegammun, while in front another one goes gently up towards the south. Behind a small hill we find Lake Veslekrækkja. From there we will go upstream in a straight line the three lakes of Veslekrækkja, Heinungen and Øvre Hein, to the refuge of Heinseter (1,105 m).
Heinseterhytta is a private refuge in the sense that it does not belong to the network of refuges of the DNT. It is a large building belonging to a small group of houses with exquisite interior decoration, all wood, a fireplace in each room and small rooms for three people. The shelter is a bit more expensive also than the ones in the DNT (the stay in full board costs 1290 crowns - about € 120) and the shower goes with chips (a card for 5 min of hot water). Heinseterhytta does not have telephone coverage so to be able to communicate with the outside, we must cross the metal bridge that is 150 meters beyond the shelter where there, the coverage is excellent (4G).
