Itinerary description
One of my favourite tours in Andorra especially if there has been a good dump in the past week. You can do this walk with reasonable safety when the avalanche risk is higher (obviously you still need to practice all care).
Follow the trail up the ridge. You start through the trees and finally come out into a small 100m long clearing. At the far side of this, you'll face a slightly more technical climb through trees. If it's icy you may need ski crampons at this stage. The day I went was deep snow, and it was easy.
Finally you break out on the ridge proper, where you find a gentle, treeless slope to the peak. Again you may find ice here since the wind strips loose snow, so have ski crampons if sheet ice makes you nervous.
We didn't climb to the peak due to lack of time, but circled it about 50m below the summit. Then we descended down the ridge-line and through the trees back to the path and the car. This is a lovely ski through well spaced trees, and because it's north facing, the snow tends to stay in excellent condition.
Make sure you keep bearing left because to the right there are cliffs. As long as you head left constantly you come to an easy canal through the trees to the track and back to your car. It's worth checking the route we took, to find a good spot to descend off the ridge.
