Itinerary description
Starting from the electricity station of Estaens 1250m above the Forges d'Abel, following the road up through the forests of Espélunguère. Climbing up the Ruisseau valley to the col of Acué 2019m. Pass to the west of Pic Gabedallos and climb up the west ridge of Acué 2258m. Ski off due south (avalanche prone) or south-west, down to the Escale river (long, lovely ski descent) and to the paso de Escale, a narrow rock pass at 1640m.
NB We blew it at this point and skied straight down the river valley - it is possible with enough snow but awkward and full of trees. The correct route stays on the south side of the river, only crossing it around 1420m. This track shows the correct route: http://www.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/view.do?id=3720966.
Rejoin the road and ski down to the parking.
Bit of a long flattish slog at the start/end but otherwise a beautiful tour through varied terrain.
