Itinerary description
Something to do if you are avoiding high avalanche risk on steeper peaks, but not a brilliant tour, in my opinion. There is a lot of flattish ground to cover and thick trees to ski through on the way down.
Start from the Aransa cross-country ski station. We went up via the ski pistes, which follow the road, this is easy but quite a lot longer. Alternatively you can go up through the trees on the same line as your descent. If you are putting the track in, you need to know where to go!
The valley up towards the lakes of Pera and the refuge dels Estanys de la Pera is lovely. Then you climb up the valley of the Serra del Sirvent, gaining height gradually towards the peak. The view down into the Vall de Madriu of Andorra is beautiful.
Descend the same way, the ski down to the refuge is great fun, thereafter you are mostly schussing through trees which get ever thicker. Lower the route flattens and requires quite a lot of poling and side-stepping up.
