Itinerary description

A gorgeous tour, highly recommended! Start from the bridge on the main road at the top of l'Hospitalet-près-Andorra. It is best to park on the other side of the road by the hotel. Skin up past the hydro pipe and turn left into the valley of the Rui del Siscar. This valley is very beautiful and feels wild and remote. It is a steady, gentle climb round to the Estany del Siscar, where you turn right and skin up to the Portella del Siscar 2444m. From there climb up up the west ridge of Nérassol, probably on foot as the wind tends to strip the ridge of snow. The views from the summit are spectacular in all directions. Ski off on the south-east face onto the shoulder. There you must turn hard left and drop down into a snow canal to avoid a series of cliffs directly below. Ski sown inot the valley of the Riu d'Arques, schuss pass the lake and drop back into the valley you ascended to start with. Follow your track back past the pipeline and down to the bridge on the main road.
(You can also skin up the descent line, or you can skin up the valley of the Riu d'Arques all the way to the Portella del Siscar and the climb up the west ridge.)

Thanks for sharing this route. We followed it yesterday. As you say, the valleys feel remote without any view of any construction and, a part from the two of us, there was just another person in all the mountain. We had some problems to follow the route on the descent, instead of descending thru the snow canal we skipped the hard left turn you mention and when we realized it was too late, we descended more directly to the small reservoir and was not difficult we just needed to work out a little bit to find a safe route. We were not able to ski until around 1650 m because of lack of snow but the walk was more than worth.
