Itinerary description
Parking the car “Prada Alta” at the parking of the Cable car (that now is dismantled on the way to be refurbished) after about 100 mt the snow was enough and we could start to use the skis with skins to start our funny way up, in a well visible path, the snow was crunchy due to the low temp (-15°C at the parking -20°C over 2000mt) anyway thanks to the sun the cold temp was not that bad.
At half way up you can already spot the “Rifugio Chierego” with it known terrace on the south side, we kept going till the first peak called Cima Costabella where the amazing view of the lake and surrounding valleys was entertaining us for few minutes despite of the temperature. We removed the skins, starting the way down with this amazing landscape, once next to the Rifugio Chierego we had our lunch break again with the stunning view of the lake.
The way down was more or less following the orientation of the way up just in the last section we changed the path for a wider one.
So far a very nice day, sunny and clear, all this can be done with Ciaspole/Snowshoes/Rakets and normal snow boots (remember the crampons!). The same starting point is the one for the summer trek. Enjoy 😊
