Again blue skies, but marked by some high cloud. Today we intend to ascend to the roof of the Pirin Mountains, Vihren Peak.
We left the car in a parking lot in the upper area of the Bansko station and began to look through a fairly flat area until we approached the Banderica refuge. From this to the Vihren refuge through slightly more sinuous terrain and from the latter we continue looking south towards a lake from which we begin to gain height zigzagging until we reach the top of Hvojnati, where the strong wind and low visibility from from that altitude makes us reconsider the original plan and opt to leave the Vihren for a better occasion.
We remove skins and enjoy a beautiful descent while we can see to our left the entire range that makes up the three peaks of the Tordokas, which give this mountain the appearance of a huge volcanic crater. After descending again to the lake, we put the seals back on and began to climb the slopes of Tordoka. We first ascend to the southernmost peak and along a comfortable ridge we approach the central Tordoka. We ruled out ascending the northernmost and highest one because it has less snow and we jumped down the east-facing slopes in search of a wide corridor that will leave us at the bottom of a valley where we found some vegetation and of which we will not be left. no choice but to put the seals back to go out on the tracks of the station. By tracks we go down to the car. To take advantage of the remaining descent to the town of Bansko, while one goes down by car, the other takes advantage of the snow generated artificially by the canyons to descend to the town.
