In Haugastol we take to Eidfjord the RTN of Hardangervidda (that surrounds the NP of the same name) until Eidfjord. It is a journey through a plateau at about 1,100 m. of height, the largest plateau in northern Europe. There are lots of lakes that dot the entire journey. Half of the route is practically flat and the other half is down.
In the descent the fog makes visibility difficult and the cold is noticeable. Near the end of the descent there is a detour to see the Voringsfossen waterfall in the upper viewpoint that allows you to see it from above and really impresses its strength and the 150 meter waterfall. A little further down there is another viewpoint.
We go down a little further and leave the bike to take a footpath of about 1 km. that goes down to the river and enters the valley until the fall of the waterfall. There are stretches of the road where it is difficult to walk as there are areas where the road is hidden by rockfalls, but the effort is worth it for the majesty of the place and from where you can appreciate up close the magnitude of the waterfall . After a while absorbed by the beauty that surrounds us we turn around and catch the bicycles again. We have to go back a bit because there is a fence that cuts the road.
Soon, about 5 kms before Eidfjord we stopped at a campsite where we slept with the store.
