After having breakfast in the refuge and going out into the street we see that the day is very unpleasant, cloudy, discontinuous rain and a strong wind that produces a lot of cold sensation. The first kilometers are in slight rise (before the dizzying descent to Flam) to reach the maximum level of the Rallarvegen to more than 1,300 m and this is noted in the amount of snow that sometimes cuts the road, so we continuously have to get off the bike and walk. The landscape is impressive, lakes with blocks of ice, snowy mountains and endless rivers and waterfalls.
Once downhill, we passed the set of houses of Hallingskeid and shortly after by the Ravine Klevagjelet, where the water rushes with great force due to the steep slope; here the road is protected with railings and it is advisable to do it walking or very carefully.
We went through the Highland Vatnahalsen hotel and then, on a steep descent with many curves, we reached the Flam Valley. Little by little, as the altitude changes, the landscape changes, the snow disappearing and the foliage of the vegetation increases; Shortly before reaching Flam, we passed the beautiful Rjoandefossen waterfall. We camped at a Flam campsite for 231 NOK.

Yo también sufrí la nieve y era también en Julio. Incluso me recomendaron que no intentara pasar hacia Flam.

Este tramo fue de los mejores de la ruta, la nieve en julio me sorprendió bastante y, según cuentas, parece que es normal por estas latitudes. Yo lo pasé en algún momento mal porque llevaba carro y hacía el efecto arado, es decir, no hacía más que levantar y cargarla en ello.
Además hubo algunos pasos del camino que se habían convertido en palas de nieve e hielo que terminaban en esos lagos helados. Llegué a pensar que si el carro empezaba a deslizarse me quedaba sin bici, equipaje y sin nada. Y desde luego, en caso de ocurrir eso, no habría forma de recuperarlo.

Recien completamos con mi mujer la ruta desde Finse hasta Flam, increíble experiencia! Llegamos cerca del mediodía en tren a Finse desde Olso. Ya tenía reservadas unas bicicletas justo enfrente a la estación. Estaba nublado, fresco y con algo de llovizna, pero todo eso se olvidó apenas empezamos a rodar. Que lugar ! Pasamos 1 solo manchon de nieve , y el resto a disfrutar. Paramos a tomar cafe reparador en el parador Fagernut. Todo muy solitario y con un paisaje fuerte, impactante. Tambien por supuesto parda para picnic en el medio de tanta desolación.De ahi empezo pendiente hacia abajo. En un lugar cruzamos un puente y tranquera incorrecta y nos perdimos por una hora, pero cada metro valio la pena
La parte final fueron bajadas muy fuertes y para disfrutar cientos de metros sin pedalear y andando rápido. Llegamos despues de 7 horas a Flam cansados pero alucinados. Esa noche comida y dormida especial en el Hotel Fertheim.
Al otro dia unas vueltas por el pueblo y tren de vuelta a Oslo
