We left the campsite on a sunny morning following, as yesterday, skirting the Nordfjord to the village of Stryn. We continue along another road that runs along the shore of a lake surrounded by beautiful mountains with snow on the peaks. In this way, we arrive at Erdal, at the end of the lake, and we stop at a campsite and, taking advantage of the goodness of the weather, we take a "refreshing" swim in the lake. We continue along the lake shore to Hjelle, where we take a road that goes into the mountains. The road winds up a hillside just before reaching the Hotel Videseter, where the National Tourist Route (RTN) of Strynefjell, the old road that crossed these mountains begins.
This route is a beautiful high mountain road that crosses a valley. On the hill there is a summer ski resort, the snow is still in the ditch and the lakes are semi-frozen. On the descent the asphalt gives way to a compact dirt track, the landscapes are even more spectacular with completely frozen lakes. As we lose height, the lakes are a very striking greenish color. Next, there is a group of huts with roofs covered with grass that they use as thermal insulation. Shortly after we reach Grotli, on the road that goes to Geiranger. We do not have much trouble deciding where to spend the night, since there is only one hotel (980 NOK with breakfast) with enough luxuries like a sauna. Outside there is a Nazi plane from World War II that crashed near here and whose story inspired the recent film "Into the white".
