Itinerary description

An easy route to get you to visit some cultural highlights of Malaga and enjoy open green spaces: C.A.C. (Contemporary Art Centre); El Parque de Huelin; the Car and Fashion museum; El Parque Oeste; La Termica Cultural Centre. The route takes you to each place and then back to the promenade after each point. From the MBT shop head west towards the (usually) dry river Guadalmedina where we find the first of our museum stops: CAC. The entrance is free and they often have temporary exhibitions from well-known international contemporary artists. After CAC, head south towards the sea. Travelling west along the coast we eventually get onto a bike path which will lead us through the first park- El Parque de Huelín. Following the bike path we first cross over to the promenade and shortly thereafter the bike path takes us across the street again and then north on Calle Princesa. At the next traffic lights, we leave the bike path and cycle west about 100 meters on the sidewalk to arrive at the Tabacelera- the old tobacco factory- which now houses the Russian Museum (El Museo Ruso) and the Car & Fashion museum. Both well worth a visit. There is a bike parking just inside the entrance to the grounds.
Going back to the bike path we continue going west and then leave the path just a few metres past the tall chimney (Torre Monica) on the left to cross over to El Parque Oeste. The park takes up two whole city blocks and is full of all kinds of surprises: fantasy sculptures; bridges and different paths to take to explore the park; black swans (and white ones!); turtles; ducks and in the middle of the park up some steps you can even find a couple of emu and wallabees! After touring the park, we head back to the promenade and continue west. Leave the bike path to cross over to Avda. de los Guindos toget to La Termica Cultural Centre. The Centre has ongoing free exhibitions, usually photography and also holds special events like concerts, workshops and classes.
