Mallorca: Playa de Palma - Colònia de Sant Jordi

We verlaten ons hotel in Can Pastilla aan de Playa de Palma en fietsen enkele kilometers in zuidelijke richting op het fietspad langs de zee, voorbij S'Arenal de Palma en tot aan het rondpunt op de wat drukkere Ma-6014 steenweg.
Enkele kilometers klimmen we langs deze weg omhoog, voorbij het grote golfterrein van Maioris en eens het hoogste punt van de dag bereikt (147m boven zee), slaan we linksaf in de rustige landweg Cami de sa Torre, richting Llucmajor.
Voorbij een hotel en een windmolen, blijven we links richting Llucmajor volgen tot aan de Ma-19 snelweg. Vlak voor de tunnel onder de snelweg slaan we rechtsaf in de Cami Des Palmer. De vierde afslag naar links voert ons over de snelweg naar Llucmajor.
Na een bezoekje aan de stad, keren we terug naar de Cami des Palmer en vervolgen onze weg richting Campos, alle zijwegen negerend tot net voorbij het gehuchtje Ses Sitjoles, waar we linksaf de Cami Des Revellar nemen naar Campos. We fietsen door het stadje en verlaten het weer langs de rustige Cami Des Ametlers.
Aan het T-kruispunt even rechts tot op de grotere weg, die we na 200m naar links weer verlaten voor de rustige fietsroute "Molins de Campos Ruta", die ons langs meerdere (al dan niet vervallen) windmolens voert.
Terug aan de drukkere weg Ma-6014 even opletten: wij fietsten rechtdoor op de onverharde weg door de zoutmeren en moerassen. Doe dit alleen na een lange droge periode: na een regenbui is het een enorme modderpoel (zoals wij ondervonden)!
Na de onverharde modderwegen door de Salinas nemen we de drukke Ma6040 voor een korte klim en afdaling naar het kuststadje Colonia de Sant Jordi. Gefietst op 25/05/2014 - Vermits de track ook over onverharde of minder goede wegen loopt, is deze route is niet geschikt voor racefietsen!

We left our hotel in Can Pastilla at Playa de Palma and drove our bicycles a few kilometers south on the bicycle path along the sea, past S'Arenal de Palma to the roundabout on the busy Ma-6014 road.
A few kilometers climbing along this road, past Maioris Golf Course and once we reached the highest point of the day (147m above sea level), we turned left onto quiet country road Cami de sa Torre, direction Llucmajor.
Past an hotel and a windmill, keep on driving left direction Llucmajor until you reach the Ma-19 highway. Just before the tunnel under the highway, turn right in the Cami Des Palmer. The fourth exit to the left goes over the highway to Llucmajor.
After visiting the city, we returned to the Cami des Palmer and continued our way towards Campos, ignoring all side roads until just past the hamlet of Ses Sitjoles where we drive to the left in the Cami Des Revellar to Campos. We cycled through the small town and left it along the quiet Cami Des Ametlers.
At the T-junction at the end of this road, turn right to the larger road, follow it for 200m an go left along the quiet bicycle route "Ruta Molins de Campos", which brings you along several windmills, some nice and some in poor condition.
Back on the busy road Ma-6014 pay attention: we cycled straight on along the dirt road through the salt lakes and marshes. Beware: only do this after a longer dry period, after rain it is a huge mud puddle (as we found out)!
After the unpaved mudroad through the Salinas, we took the busy Ma6040 for a short climb and descent to the coastal town of Colonia de Sant Jordi. Cycled on 05/25/2014 - As this track also follows poor or even unpaved roads, it is not very suitable for racing bikes!
