TOUR OF MONTGRONY
SUMMARY OF THE ROUTE
This is a round trip from Sant Joan de las Abadessas, to pass a night in the quiet and beautiful Sanctuary of Montgrony. The first stage starts with the ^\Ruta del ferro^] green bike line. An old railway converted in a bike path. From Ripoll, all is up to Gombren and finally climb to the Sanctuary. The secon stage is to go to Castellar de Nug, where Llobregat river borns, and return with the main road and pass the Coll de la Merolla, to arrive finally at the start point.
WHEN TO GO
This route can be done all the year. In winter can be a bit cold, and some times with snow. So perhaps from spring to autumn is the best time.
HOW TO GET THERE
To Sant Joan de les Abadesses you can only go by car. But if you start in Ripoll, train from Barcelona arrives there.
IMPORTANT FACTS
Better reserve in the hostel of the Sanctuary, because it has only a few routes.
DIFFICULTIES
Climb from Gombren to Montgrony Sanctuary is quite steep. The rest is more easy to climb.
