It is a spectacular stage. We get up and cross a tropical forest at speed and then go down for two hours on a fairly intense descent with views until we reach a semi-desert area where it is difficult to understand how life is possible. In this area poverty appears more strongly.
They told us that the northern area of Baringo is dangerous due to the presence of bandits, and that in fact in some areas there is a curfew at night. We had no problems. But it is an area where the sun and the lack of water make it difficult even though the slopes are short.
In Lake Baringo we stayed at the place on the map that has a pretty good restaurant and bungalows, although there is also a campsite and a semi-luxury resort. Taking a boat trip around the lake and enjoying the birds, crocodiles, hiccups... is highly recommended. For us it was the last stage and we returned by car to Nairobi. It's just the middle of the route.
