Itinerary description
This time we visited two very interesting churches:
- Archangel Michael church in Platanistasa village was built in 19 cent on the basis of older church of 15 cent which was demolished by locals. It's has icons of 19 cent. The church became well known due its priest George who turned the territory into the garden of Eden. There are about 3000 potted flowers around the building which he grows, waters, cuts, etc.
- Church of Stavros tou agiasmati is listed in UNESCO heritage. It was built in 15 cent. The church used to be a monastery church, but only traces of the cells of the monastic buildings remain to the south of the church.
It's well known for its architectural elements (the church has a roofed gallery around the main building) which are unique for Cyprus as well as for it's frescos painted by Philip Wool.
