Long stage by minibus from the hot town of Chilas to the capital of Baltistan, traveling a good stretch through the impressive Indus Valley. We continue for a while on the Karakorum Highway (KKH) until past Jaglot, where we turn to the right (we continue along the spectacular river that is born in Tibet and flows into the Arabian Sea) along a less important road, which has many sections in works when we cross it and in many cases it is a clue to good precipices on the mythical river that can give some impression (when you cross with the colorful trucks that come in the opposite direction) to people who have some vertigo. The route in any case is spectacular wherever you look. On the one hand you can see from certain sites snowy peaks of a certain magnitude, both backwards (the Nanga Parbat) and forward in the distance (towards which we are going). On the other, the Indus River Valley itself, which divides precisely these impressive mountains. To the northwest we have the Hindu Kush, to the northeast the Karakorum and to the south nothing less than the Himalayas. And the Indus is its backbone and separator. We are talking about the largest and highest mountain ranges in the world. The river itself is a spectacle, due to the force and abundance of water that drags and gives life to all the towns that inhabit its riverbank. Because as soon as you go a little away from the river, the landscape is very arid and gains height quickly.
The kilometer we eat in the minibus is considerable although the unevenness of the trak is very exaggerated and does not correspond to reality.
