Itinerary description
This is a fun day trip outside Addis to a site where the local community in Koremash has set up a nice site apparently built on a strategic fortress location used by Menelek's armies. From Addis travel east'ish on Highway 2 until you hit the turnoff marked by the beginning of this GPS track. Take the graded dirt road and follow the track to the end. There is a gate at the entrance of the Menelik Armory site. There are a few refurbished buildings, which are not particularly exciting, and a rudimentary latrine, but it all sits on a point overlooking a dramatic river valley. The person at the gate said camping is also allowed. We did not hike around, but it looks like there may be some nice places to explore. Either way, this is a nice day drive and picnic spot, and apparently a nice overnight camping spot as well.
