Itinerary description
The lakes of glacial origin, connected one with each other by easy paths, are good placed in the heard of a spruce fir wood and at the feet of a Mount Mangart mountain range.
The ambient, where many animals and typical plants live, it changes with the seasons: the nature shows its infinite colours, painting the wood and the lakes with unique shades that make this place still more magical.
The Predil lake ( or Raibl lake) is located few kilometres far from Travisio, in an ancient glacial basin.
The water is clear and cold, of an intense green-blue colour; in an island, wreck of a morainic area, partly destroyed, partly submerge, create an evocative landscape.
A legend tells that many times ago instead of the lake there was a small village. The inhabitants were insensitive people and during a cold night of winter refuse to give hospitality to a woman and her child come from far away.
Only a poor family offered a warm place and lavish attention on the woman and her son. The morning after the lake submerged the whole village but a small island with the house of the hospitable family, while the woman and her son were disappeared.

Korita
Just above Lepena valley Soča river has carved 750 meters long gorge. The gorge is completely narrow at some points and its depth depends a lot on the water level: in the dry period it is up to 15 m deep, but at floodings Soča can fill it up completely. It is a nice and short walk along one of Slovenia’s natural pearls. The color of Soča is truly incredible.

Zelenci
Zelenci natural reserve Emerald green: Zelenci natural reserve “There is nothing more beautiful in Europe than this,” wrote Sir Humphry Davy about the beauties of the Sava Valley with its waterfalls and lakes. The Zelenci Lake can be discovered immediately after the village of Podkoren on the southern side of the main road. This natural reserve is home to various interesting flora, among it carnivorous sundew, and among animals, amphibiansand nesting birds are represented in large numbers. It is situated at the northern edge of the Triglav National Park, bordered in the south by the forested Vitranc, and equally wooded Karavanks in the north. The swamp with Drni moorland is around 1200 metres long and 150 metres wide on average, with around 200 metres in the widest part and mere twenty in the narrowest. In the far western part of the swamp lies the emerald green lake, from which numerous extremely clean and cold stream emerge from the layers of marl, which gives the water its characteristic blue-green colour. It is because of this colour that the lake and the swamp were named Zelenci (green). Zelenci do not freeze in the winter, their constant temperature throughout the year is about 6°C. Zelenci and their surroundings were declared a natural reserve by the decree of Jesenice municipality in 1992. Following a wooden footbridge, you can walk to the lake and around the swamps without harming nature. An unforgettable green experience.
Planica
Planica is a long, typical glacial valley in the northern part of the Slovenian Julian Alps. Near Rateče it branches off from the Upper Sava Valley. To the west it is limited by the Ponc ridge and to the east the Mojstrovka and Cipernik mountains rise above it. The upper part of Planica continues in Tamar and Zelje, which is one of the most beautiful gables in the Slovenian Alps, at the end of which rises Mt.Jalovec in its impressive form. During the Pleistocene period, a glacier moved slowly down the slopes of Jalovec and transformed the upper and middle part of the valley. A moraine, which is an accumulation of glacial debris, covers the central ground of the valley.
