Itinerary description
Why worthwhile? A special mountainous area (tops to 1500m height), so close to the sea. Typical quiet Spanish mountain villages. Visit to Guadalest.
Starting point: El Campello, northeast of Alicante [Alicante – Murcia]
Distance: 125 km.
Details: Mostly good mountain roads. Difference in height 1000m. With breaks and excursions this is a full day tour.
Route description:
From El Campello (northeast of Alicante) (sea level) via the CV-773 and then the CV-775 to Aigües and on to Relleu. Follow the CV-775 and then the CV-770 to Sella and from here go up the mountain towards the pass Port de Tudons at 1024m.
Past the pass descend en then over a more “main road” (the CV-70) towards Benidorm. On the way you come past the exceptional (yet tourist) Guadalest. At Benidorm we can easily choose the “tourist route” N-332 back to Alicante, which runs parallel with the motorway, but clearly gives a more beautiful and more varied view of the adjacent sea and surroundings.
Done in 2008.
