One of the most scenic driving route around Limassol. Narrow road, little opposite traffic, but prepare for opposite vehicles !
Palaichori village
Located in the Troodos mountain range in the Pitsilia region of the Lefkosia district, the village of Palaichori is just 40 km from Nicosia. The village is 930 m above sea level and is separated in two by the Serrache River, which springs from the Papoutsa mountain offerring accommodation in beautiful traditional houses and the village life experience at its best. The village is home to vineyards, nut and fruit trees, and produces the spirit Zivania in the traditional way. The spirit also plays a role in important village traditions, such as sharing it with friends in the church courtyard on name days. Four old and interesting churches, including significant Byzantine churches (the Transfiguration of the Saviour 16th century World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO and Saint George 17th century) are worth a visit, whilst other sights include the village unique square, a museum exhibiting Byzantine Heritage, the restored hideout of the Gregoris Afxentiou (liberation struggle 1955-1959), and the statue of the Cypriot Mother praides the ethos and the love for the country displayed by the mothers who lost their children during the liberation.
Fishing enthusiasts will enjoy partaking in the leisurely hobby at Palaichori Dam, which is constructed on the river of Kampiou.
