Itinerary description
A beautiful loop in Chabrouh dam at Faraya. This loop is beautiful in all seasons but epic in winter with snow covering. Excellent for cross-country as almost flat trail, except the part where u have to take off ur skis to climb towards that lovely rock. A 120m elevation over a distance of 400m.
To reach the famous rock u have to go to the other side of the dam (the most distal part of the loop around the dam, to the east) check my waypoint called “towards the famous rock”
From there, remove ur skis and start mounting up. U have to find ur own way up as no clear trail to follow. Its easy in summer time but an exhausting climbing in the snow.
keep ur skis down somewhere if u dnt want them wiz u in the photo ;)
Full focus on ur way down, its a steep descend.
Just before leaving the dam, there was a cascade, with a significant flow of water pouring in the dam, that i had to cross (check my waypoint called river crossing) I found it safe for me. I jumped over few rocks while holding balance with my skis as sticks. If u don’t want to risk it, then u’ll have to go back from the same way u came, don’t form a loop.
