Itinerary description
Peeerfect for cross country! And can definitely be done with snowshoeing.
A lovely moderate ascent next to the majestic ridges of Jabal El Qorni aka. “Fehta Tannourine”, an unbelievable sequence of cliffs that u cant have enough of its beauty especially when covered in white and in the bottom of the valley, several ponds which were full at this time of the year, making the panorama more dramatic !! Lovely!! To ur left, at some points, u can see the city of tripoli as showed in my photos.
Reaching the top, right before “kniset El Rabb” (Church of the lord)! there’s a big black cross with breathtaking panorama, one of the MOST beautiful in Lebanon overlooking Wadi Qannoubine and all the authentic lovely villages surrounding it from above: Hasroun, Bazaoun, Beqaa Kafra, Bcharri, Arez, Hadchit, Blouza.
Looking further to the east, at ur same level approximately , u can see Kniset El Rabb about 1km away. Its the highest church in the middle east.
There r saint statues scattered around the area. There’s a resto “Jiwar El Sama” that opens in summer time i believe and they open the church too, its worth checking it from the inside. Enjoy a lovely coffee break up there on top of the world!
The descent is actually easy and quick. Enjoyed it a lot on my skis. The path was in the very bottom of the valley between two mountains.
Had to walk only the last 1km to my car.
