Itinerary description
Snow "nearly" certain groomed tracks at altitude between 1900 and 2000 metres. About 1hr20 min from Zürich to Stockalp (plus cable car time).
Spectacular views. Parking in Stockalp (5 Chf) then take Seilbahn up to Melchseefrutt. Keep in mind that the cable car ticket is for one trip (i.e. not a day ticket) so if you leave anything back in the car and have to get it you´ll end up having to buy another ticket.
You will not have cover of any trees so you may want to bring extra wind proofing.
To note that the tracks will ondulate a little bit. If you bring classic skis I´d recommend skins as the temperature there is going to change a lot between cold mornings and warmer afternoons, and you may not have grip on the uphills.
The place is good for families. There are decent small downhill skiing pistes, tracks for walking and snow shoe paths. So maybe you can lull your significant other into entertaining the kids when you do some exercise.
Done in 2h32 min net, with skin classic skis (first time out this season)
