Itinerary description
Beautiful cross-country skiing at 2000 meters altitude on Prato Piazza with various possibilities for food/drinks. After having completed the 6 km track, you can take the 'winterwalk' trail down to Ponticello and then continue further downhill to Segheria or the train station in Villabassa (Niederdorf).
Please note: this track from Prato Piazza to Ponticello is also used by hikers/snowshoers. The quality of the track is therefore less than on those exclusively prepared for cross-country skiers. The track descends about 500 meters so only do this if you know how to plough/brake.
To get to Prato Piazza, take the shuttle bus from Ponticello (every 30 mins). Ponticello can be reached by bus from Dobiacco/Villabassa.
Note: there is some obvious flaw with the altitude profile on this track. Correct altitudes: Prato Piazza: 2000 m, Ponticello: 1500 m, Villabassa: 1150 m.
