Itinerary description
A nice trail through post-volcanic landscapes of Lanzarote. Begins in Arrecife, the first 8km to San Bartolomeo are the longest climb on this trail (almost 300m elevation gain, but only the approach to San Bartolomeo is steep). The trail continues north to Monumento al Campesino, one of the landmarks created by César Manrique. Next, it turns west towards Masdache. In Masdache, turns right (north) towards La Vegueta. The road is really scenic as it passes several volcanos and lava fields. In La Vegueta, the trail turns left (west) and continues to Mancha Blanca, then crosses the Parque Natural Los Volcanos and reaches Yaiza. This section passes next to the Timanfaya park, so it offers stunning volcanic landscapes but also involves some car traffic. From Yaiza, the trail continues to Uga and then turns left towards Masdache. This section leads through Lanzarote's vineyards is quite hilly. Just before reaching Masdache, the trail turns right to a village named Montana Blanca where a 10km long downhill back to Arrecife begins.
