Itinerary description
Finally a semi-cloudy warm day (28°C/17°C) for cycling without much skin burns from LAGORD to LOIX in Ile d'Re. I took cycling trails along the ocean as much as possible not to miss the wonderful scenery. Heading west was during low tide and many tourist families with their kids were playing at beaches waiting to rising water. My bike bell was broken in Lagord and this was the very day I needed it the most because the whole way to Loix and back was crowded with cyclists, skaters, walkers, runners...at various ages and I had to watch especially for kids on new bikes learning to ride on downhill slopes losing control. La Flotte and Saint Martin were both crowded with all kinds of visitors having lunch and cool drinks next to main ports. West of Saint Martin I passed through several sea salt farms one was selling fresh sea salt varieties on site for lowest prices I ever seen. Loix hamlet center was crowded with visitors as usual at couple of main restaurants and front gardens. Especially number of so many kids running around was so noticeable. On the way back tide was getting high and I was seeing totally different scenery than low tide. I was now live with boats, sail boats, etc. West of Sait Martin also I found several seaside restaurants that catch their own mussel, fish, crab,...sea food from the nearby ocean and have fresh seafood right beside bike trail. It was very delightful cycling trip that most definitely I will repeat during next trip there.
