Itinerary description
Starting from the port of l'Estartit the route briefly follows the coast before heading west through fields of crops and groves of olive trees. To the north are views of the Massís del Montgrí topped with the Castell del Montgrí. In Torroella de Montgrí there is a warren of pedestrian streets with numerous restaurants and shops. From Torroella de Montgrí the ride continues through Bellcaire d'Empordà to the seaside municipality of l'Escala with it's sandy beaches and the extensive Greco-Roman ruins of Empúries.

Greco-Roman ruins of Empúries
Founded by the Greek traders in the 6th century BC and later occupied by the Romans in the 1st century BC, this ancient coastal city is located between the town of l'Escala and the small village of Sant Martí d'Empúries. There is also an excellent small museum with many artifacts on display.
