Itinerary description
From the start you go to the Ma-2110 that leads out of town and to the foot of the Coll de Tofla, a short and easy climb on a quiet road. You descend to Alaró, but before the town you take the shortcut to the Ma-2100 which takes you to Orient past the Coll d’Orient on a smooth climb on a broad well-paved road. You descend to the picturesque town of Orient, continue to a valley and then climb to Coll d’Honor on a less well-paved road. The climb is undemanding. From the top you descend to Bunyola and then go to the foot of the climb of the Coll de Sóller. First you cycle on the major road Ma-11 between La Palma and Sóller, but when the main road goes through a tunnel you climb to the pass on a road full of hairpins and olive groves. The descent is also on a winding road with views of Puig Major, and via Ma-11 you ride into Sóller for a sneak peak in the town center. From here, you ride to the foot of the climb to Puig Major, or the Túnel de Monnàbar. This is a long climb on a smooth and wide road, through forest and with wide views. The climb ends at the end of the tunnel. From here you descend past two reservoirs (Embassament de Cúber and Embassament del Gorg Blau) to another tunnel. A bit further you get to a junction at the foot of the Coll dels Reis where you take the road to Sa Calobra. You first climb to Coll dels Reis, and then descend on a beautiful descent with views of Puig Major and the sea and a lot of hairpins to Sa Calobra. On the way you pass sa Bretxa, a narrow passage between steep rocks. Sa Calobra is on the sea and famous for the canyon of the Torrent de Pareis, which cannot be reached on a bike (only on foot through a tunnel), but is worth a visit. In Sa Calobra are also several restaurants (which are not very much recommended on internet, I only drank something) and a ferry back to Sóller if you lack the courage of taking the climb back to Coll dels Reis. Because that is the next challenge! It is also the most beautiful climb of the day, with griffon vultures near the top. You descend back from Coll dels Reis to the junction where you take the Ma-10 towards Lluc. This road through holly oak forests climbs a bit, past a viewpoint towards the Torrent de Pareis canyon and then descends towards Lluc. Above Lluc you take the Ma-2130 road towards Inca. After a very short climb to Coll de sa Batalla with a petrol station and restaurant you descend on a beautiful road to Caimari. You continue to Selva and then ride through countryside back to Lloseta.
