Què és el Geoparc?


Fa més de 36 milions d’anys, al cor geogràfic de Catalunya, existí un mar que va desaparèixer amb l’aixecament dels Pirineus, en un procés que ens ha deixat espectaculars formacions rocoses i rics recursos naturals que han definit el paisatge i la societat del territori.

El Parc Geològic i miner de la Catalunya Central, que el formen la comarca del Bages i el municipi de Collbató, treballa activament per la protecció del seu patrimoni geològic i l’integra dins una estratègia territorial de desenvolupament econòmic sostenible.

El Patrimoni geològic és un reconeixement del paper de l'home per a proporcionar un futur econòmicament sostenible per al desenvolupament de la societat en conjunt, així com la nostra responsabilitat social. En molts sentits, el patrimoni geològic d'Europa és tan divers i interessant i dinàmic com l'herència multicultural de moltes regions d'Europa. El patrimoni geològic d'Europa és també la nostra història compartida i aquesta història es pot llegir escrita en les pedres i els paisatges que estan al nostre voltant.

El Parc Geològic i Miner de la Catalunya Central és un projecte vertebrador que posa en valor els atractius geològics i miners del territori així com els actius turístics sota un denominador comú, el geoturisme, amb una oferta turística interessant i de qualitat, que integra cultura, natura, geologia, mineria i gastronomia. Cal entendre el Geoturisme com aquella activitat que sustenta, o fins i tot millora, el caràcter geogràfic d'un territori, com és la seva cultura, el medi ambient, el patrimoni i el benestar dels seus residents. La idea de millora sostenible permet el desenvolupament basat en el trets identitaris i propis del territori.

What is the GeoPark?


Over 36 million years ago, at the geographical heart of Catalonia, there was a sea which disappeared with the rise of the Pyrenees. This process left spectacular rock formations and rich nature resources, which defined the landscape and the society of the territory.

The Geological and Mining Park of Central Catalonia, formed by the Bages region and the municipality of Collbató, is actively working for the protection of its geological heritage, integrating it in a territorial strategy of sustainable economic development.

The geological heritage is a recognition of the role of man to provide an economically sustainable future for the development of society as a whole, as well as our social responsibility. In many ways, the geological heritage of Europe is as diverse, interesting and dynamic as the multicultural heritage of many regions in Europe. The geological heritage of Europe is also our shared history and this history can be read on the stones and the landscapes around us.

The Geological and Mining Park of Central Catalonia is a unifying project that highlights the geological and mining attractions of the area, as well as the tourist assets under a common denominator, geotourism, with an interesting and high quality tourist offer, integrating culture, nature, geology, mining and gastronomy. Geotourism must be understood as the activity that supports, or even improves the geological character of the territory, including its culture, environment, heritage and the well-being of its residents. The idea of sustainable improvement allows a development based on the identifying own characteristics of the territory.
