Itinerary description
One of them is along the viewpoint of Signal de Botrange - the highest point of Belgium. Our trail meanders a bit between the moorland and the forest - just keep going, it ain't that bad.
Another 'difficult' stretch begins where you cross the Route de Xhoffraix. On the other side of the road, the trail turns into some muddy and sometimes obscure path - just keep going! or push for a few meters. The trail soon becomes better, and then descends steeply into the valley of Le Targnon. Keep on going, crossing another forest road, until you reach a boardwalk. Here we definitely recommend to push your bike, as some of the planks may not be all that strong, and a fall would land you head-first into the swamp. If this sounds difficult - it isn't.
On the other side, a few more meters on a rutted trail with roots, then the nice forest roads begin again. We found this area especially beautiful - because it seems rarely visited. In Bernister, don't miss the turns of our GPS, and descend steeply on old forest roads to Malmedy.
Gon on to Place Albert, and have your well-deserved rest. You made about half of the trip, but you truly can relax: From here, it is all on the Ravel (or some of its many branches) - railroad grade - easy if you have an ebike. You know you will make it home to Kalterherberg!
