Itinerary description
Day 4 of another bikepacking trip around Palawan. The aim of this trip was to ride roads I still haven’t ridden in the north half of the island.
The bike used for the trip was a cyclocross type Kona Sutra LTD with 700 x 47 tires and 30Tx10-42 gear. Wikiloc limits to 25 the number of waypoints to add to the track. If you want more waypoints (stores, places to eat and stay, etc.) just contact me and I will send them to you.
Ride to explore the east part of Dumaran Island. Some of these tracks are not in the maps and I drew them using Google Earth. From Araceli, headed north to Tinintinan beach and left the main road to ride a single track that climbed right over a rocky beach and then descended to the sea. Tracked back 1km to continue to a Mangrove Beach. It looks like most of the island is surrounded by mangrove. Continued to Dalayawon and then headed back to the main road. At one stage, 2km after Dalayawon there were too many loose rock on the track and I took an alternative and cleaner track that didn’t lead me to the main road and I had to walk for a while to get back to the main track and then to the main road.
Back into the main road I continued to Santo Niño and Taloto, another village with a mangrove access to the sea in the central/north of Dumaran Island. From Taloto headed south to another road that ended up in another swampy area.
Back to the main road headed back to Santo Niño, on the way to Araceli, and 1km after turned right direction SE. Passed the village of Lumacad, a river suitable for swimming and at took the right turn at the crossing 2km after. The road ended in Osmeña, a fishing village right by the sea with a sandy beach. No mangrove here. From Osmeña I tracked back to the junction and headed south to Dagman, which was definitely the highlight of the ride. Nice sandy beach and a 3-4km single track through coconut trees following the coast that ended up in a small jetty just 1km across the sea from Araceli. There is a small boat that does the crossing and this saved me having to ride back another 20km to Araceli.
