Itinerary description
Day 7 of another bikepacking trip around Palawan. The aim of this trip was to ride roads I still haven’t ridden in the north half of the island.
The bike used for the trip was a cyclocross type Kona Sutra LTD with 700 x 47 tires and 30Tx10-42 gear. Wikiloc limits to 25 the number of waypoints to add to the track. If you want more waypoints (stores, places to eat and stay, etc.) just contact me and I will send them to you.
Started early from Santa Teresita to try to reach to Taytay in one day using secondary roads. There isn’t a lot of information about these roads and it might look like the route cannot be done but using the information available and the satellite view I could manage to make a route that finally worked. If you ask for directions people will always direct you to the national highway.
90% of the 115 kilometers to Taytay are unpaved. There are steep climbs and descents and you will find many villages on the way where you can get drinks and food. The road runs near the sea except for a section of around 25 kilometers between Magsaysay and Calawag.
At some points I diverted to check out some roads that ended up in fishing villages. The last 10 kilometers of road before Taytay and also the access to Taytay port are cemented.
In Taytay I stayed, as in my previous visit, at Pem’s Pension just near the Santa Isabel Fort. They have different type of rooms from basic small ones to cottages, 350-1500PHP.
