Most of the route follows paved roads. Thanks to the gravel bike we were able to cover some sections impossible for road bikes (such as the crossing of the Divjake lagoon and some gravel tracks) and we were comfortable on rough and bumpy asphalt roads.
We arrived by boat from Ancona. We started the pedaling in Dürres and finished it at Lake Ohrid, with a brief and wonderful foray into Macedonia. From Pogradec we went by bus to Tirana (no problem putting the bikes in). And from Tirana, again by bike to Dürres to close the trip.
The trip fell short. We loved Albania, we wanted to extend the journey to the north of the country and beyond. Since we already toured Slovenia and Croatia with gravel bikes, we would like to complete the intermediate part: Bosnia, Montenegro and northern Albania.
