Itinerary description
Directions: Bjørndal - Ødegården - Greverud - Ringnes - Tusenfryd - Vinterbro - Nøstvedtmarka - Oppegård - Myrvoll - Fløysbonn - Snipeåsen - Bjørndal
This cycling route can be used to go shopping to Vinterbro mall from southern Oslo on two wheels. It combines cycling on pavement with forest trails across Sørmarka. The fastest route is chosen on the way to Vinterbro (Ås municipality), whereas a slightly longer route is proposed to come back to Oslo.
The route starts in Bjørndal, the most southern neighbourhood in Oslo. From the clubhouse at Bjørndal sports park, a forest trail heading to the southwest shall take you to Ødegården, in Nordre Follo. You will be now cycling on the King's Road (Den Fredrikshaldske Kongeveien) across Greverud, until Oppegård. This road, dating from the XVII century, linked Christiania (Oslo) and Fredrikshald (Halden) together, and was meant to be the main route to Copenhagen.
Before entering Nøstvedtmarka, you should leave Kongenveien and take the cycle lane beside the county road 156, south from Gjersjøen. The lane circumvent the tunnel of Ringnes over Amundsneset and will lead you to the crossroads at Ringnes. From there, you just need to cycle southwards on the Tusenfryd route, passing by the amusement park of the same name, to arrive to Vinterbro mall.
On your way back, you can take the bridge over the motorway to Vinterbro quarry to get into Nøstvedtmarka. Follow the forest trail starting beside the Vinterdalen tenant farm, up the valley of the same name, and keep heading to the northeast. After passing the Nøstvet farm, you will encounter Kongenveien again. It will lead you back to Oppegård, over Haugbro. Instead of cycling across Greverud, follow the county road 152 in direction to Myrvoll. There, turn right and take Tverrveien heading to Sønsterud, getting to Fløysbonn cycling through the forest. From there, follow the trail over Snipeåsen to come back to Bjørndal.
