Itinerary description
There is no need for a mountain bike to do this route. It might be a little easier on a mountain bike because of the granny gear and some of the technical downhills but I did it on a road bike with 28c tires and with 53/39 up front and a 11/40 on the back. A true gravel bike with fatter tires and a little looser gears would probably be the best overall bike for this route.
The route is pretty easy to follow but there are a lot of intersections where you will need to make sure to take the correct turn. The hardest part is the first big climb from Santa Colma to La Coscollada. On this climb you might want a true granny gear. After this there are a lot of rolling hills with a few hard climbs but nothing like the first.
I think there were 2 sections that I had to walk because the trail was too technical for a road bike. Parts of them would have been pretty hard on a mountain bike also. The sections were short and easy to carry the bike through.
Great views along most of the section that faces the sea. After you turn back towards Mollet the views end but parts of the areas are very nice.
Most of this ride is off road but there are some long road sections to get to and from the trails.
