02 - Capillas del Montsacro desde el Hotel Mirador del Angliru

Iniciamos la ruta en el aparcamiento del Hotel Mirador del Angliru, tomando la pista hormigonada en ascenso hacia la derecha. La pista comienza siendo de hormigón unos metros, pero pronto se convierte en pista de tierra. Seguimos en ascenso, hasta que la pista empieza a ser más llana, es cuando tomamos la curva hacia la izquierda dejando un gran depósito de agua a nuestra derecha.

Desde aquí podemos ver la montaña de roca caliza del Monsacro. Seguimos la pista en ligera bajada, una vez en el punto bajo cogemos ya camino hacia nuestra derecha, dejando una cuadra de ganado también a nuestra mano derecha. Este camino empieza a ascender poco a poco, siempre en dirección derecha por la falda de la montaña.

Comenzamos a serpentear el camino de caliza y monte en ascenso hasta llegar a lo alto de la canal en la que ya podemos divisar las capillas y el lago, con la ciudad de Oviedo al fondo. De ahí bajaremos hacia la primera capilla, y de esta hacia la de más abajo situada al lado del lago.

Una vez en la capilla de abajo, una senda hacia la derecha, en forma de circulo nos devuelve de nuevo a lo alto de la canal la cual ascendimos, pasando de nuevo por la primera capilla. Una vez en lo alto de esta canal, podríamos hacer el regreso por el mismo sitio, o ascender a los tres picos para hacer la ruta completa.
Desde aquí, tomamos dirección a la derecha por senda entre caliza, y en ascenso, si nos fijamos bien existen unas marcas en las piedras de pintura color amarillo.

Al llegar a lo alto tenemos la primera cumbre, el pico LA FAYONA (1020m), con un pequeño buzón de cumbre. Desde esta cumbre ya podemos ver a unos metros la siguiente cumbre CUITU ROMIRU o MONSACRO (1054 m). y estando en el MONSACRO. Al fondo vemos la última cumbre, LLANU VILLAR, escasos metros más que el MONSACRO

Desde cualquier de estas cumbres. tenemos una panorámica de la ciudad de Oviedo y alrededores y al lado contrario de toda la Sierra del Aramo.
Para hacer el descenso rodearemos por la parte baja de esta cumbre que nos devolverá a la cómoda pista por la que subimos.

Comenzamos la bajada en dirección contraria a la cumbre hasta que damos con un pequeño charco redondo, que iremos viendo desde lo alto. Justo al lado del charco vemos una senda hacia la izquierda muy marcada, la cual tenemos que seguir hacia abajo sin pérdida ninguna, llegando a la pista donde comenzamos la subida.

De ahí, ya de vuelta a la pista donde el deposito del agua, bajamos por la pista de nuevo al hotel Mirador del Angliru.
Ruta que nos llevará unas tres o cuatro horas, con una dificultad media , debido al terreno rocoso en parte del recorrido.

We start the route from the Mirador del Angliru hostel parking. From there, we take the concrete path up and right. Concrete will be left behind soon. We keep following the path, that will eventually curve to the left, leaving a big water tank to our right.
From there, the Monsacro limestone mountain can be seen. We follow the path slightly downwards and, once downhill, we continue up and right through the mountainside, leaving a stable to our right.
We keep following the limestone path upwards until we reach its upper part. From there, we can already see the chapels, the lake and, beyond there, Oviedo. We start descending and reach the first chapel and, from the first one, we go downwards towards the second one, in the whereabouts of the lake.

From the second chapel, a curve path to our right will take us back to the upper part of the path we have already walked. Once there again, we could go back to Mirador del Angliru or we could complete the route climbing the three peaks.
To reach the peaks, we must take the path up and right, looking for some yellow signs in the stones to guide ourselves.

LA FAYONA peak (1020m) is the first one we reach. It has a small summit post.A few meters beyond LA FAYONA we can see the next peak, called CUITU ROMIRU or MONSACRO (1054m), and from there we can see the last peak, LLANU VILLAR.From any of these peaks we can enjoy a panoramic view of Oviedo, its surroundings and the whole Sierra del Aramo.

To descend, we go around the lowest part of LLANU VILLAR peak, heading towards the path we take at the beginning of the route.

We start the descent from the opposite side of the peak, from where we will see a small, round pond. We must keep it in our sight while descending and then take the path left of it. That path will lead us to the same path we take at the beginning of the route.
From there, back again to the water tank and Mirador del Angliru hostel.
This route will take us three or four hours of medium toughness, due to the rocky terrain of some stretches.
