Itinerary description
This is the eighth part of a series describing my hike from Bogova to Gjirokastra. Most of the single parts can also be hiked separately when you can manage the transportation.
Hints
* Please consider the hint I gave in part seven regarding savage dogs.
* The POI of this log contain some shepherd's huts. When inhabited it is very likely you will meet some dogs around. When the huts are not inhabited it is very likely you will find only four stone walls with some roof structure but no roof.
Hike
After a late start (I had to repair a tent pole) a helpful woman in Nderan refilled my bottles with water. Then I got lost a little (as you can see on the original track log)
Take care you don't take wrong turns since the path is partly very overgrown and hard to see. For at least half an hour I stumbled over stones which looked like small moraines and crawled through scrub. Not so funny. (sometimes one should really consider to walk back...)
After I found the path it was a nice hike through beautiful landscape.
I saw only some people in distance. Two people were going downhill with a loaded mule, another pair of people seemed to collect some plants.
At noon I saw a shepherd cross the edge in 2 km distance with a big flock and some dogs passing some last snow. In the shade of a slope he lunched. As he discovered me he yelled a lot of unintelligible stuff. I replied with "Unë jam tourist" and "Shqiperie shumë mirë". :)
At the last shepherd's hut I came across before reaching the saddle some dogs barked but did not seriously charge at me.
Half an hour later I had reached the edge, enjoyed the awesome view and had a meal, but the dogs still went on with barking. -.-
I did not try to hike the Mount Lalucit since I considered it a little late for today. The descent I started after an hours rest - it's 11 km and 1.6 height kilometres were a little strenuous.
Being about halfway it started to rain and I was glad I didn't have a go for the peak today. Luckily the weather got better later.
While walking downwards I passed some stumpy regions which seemed to speak of a mountain with a lot more wood in the past...
Since no water bodies were within reach I camped at the grave yard of Krinë. There I had a tap and a nice view of the valley.
