Comment : TICKS EVERYWHERE !!! a beautiful region that would be perfect for hiking sadly....it's one of the worst area when it comes to ticks, as soon as you leave the most taken trails you'll be covered in them, I tought it was an exageration it's not...even grazing a small plant on the side has high chances of you getting one it took less than 15min for us to have one on the shoes, do not walk in high grass in those places : Forêt de Boudry Forêt de Cortaillod and Gorges de l'Areuse. Main trails wide enough that you do no make contact with the plants are ok, everything else is not, you will get ticks on you 100% there were a lot of people with dogs there..they must not know or understand, please do not bring your dogs there ! This is the reason of the major detour we took at the beginning, we chose to stay on a very very long road instead using the trails as planned, vegetation was too high and that meant ticks so a 22km ended up almost 28km not cool.
Forget the glitch at 22.5km that's when I tried to leave the main trail and we found the nest of ticks, if researchers need to collect them go there you'll get 10 on you in 2 minutes ><
I recommend sticking to the Gorges and use a train to either reach Noiraigue or Boudry and hike the Gorges one way. The top of the mountain seemed ok we walked into high grass there without insects on us. Oh yeah and expect much more elevation than listed it was very difficult.
