Tour of the section of the Appalachian Trail, as it passes through the state of New Jersey (United States), from south to north. From the High Point State Park Visitor Center, located on Route NJ-23, to the AT parking lot located on Route NJ-283, very close to the small town of Unionville, NY.
Most of the trail of this stage runs right on the border of the states of New York and New Jersey, in a corridor acquired in 1982 by the state of New Jersey, crossing wetlands, farms and small hills, in a progressive and very smooth decline.
The tour departs from the High Point State Park Visitor Center and Offices on upper Kittatinny Ridge; It crosses route NJ-23 and begins a slight ascent to the north, in the direction of the High Point Monument, a large obelisk located at the highest point in the state of New Jersey (1,803 feet). The obelisk was built in 1930 with donations from the Kuser family, and is dedicated to war heroes and veterans.

Shortly before the base of the obelisk, there is an observation platform, built in wood, which allows a 360º panoramic view. To the east, the Kittatinny Valley, Pochuck Mountain, and Wawayanda Mountain on the horizon. To the southeast you can see part of the New York City skyline. To the southwest, the Delaware Water Gap. To the west, Lake Marcia in the foreground, and the Pocono Mountains and Pennsylvania in the distance. Finally, to the north and northwest, the Catskill Plateau, and in the very foreground the High Point Monument itself.
Continuing on the trail, a short distance away we find the turnoff to the base of the High Point Monument, identified with blue markers.
A little over a kilometer down the slope and next to the path, is the High Point Shelter, a shelter with stone walls, built in 1936, with capacity for 8 people, and which has a latrine, fire ring, and a small nearby stream, for water supply.
