Itinerary description
Trolltunga, following the marked, well defined trail to the iconic outcropping. This is a long hike and not for the feint hearted. All the literature quotes a walking time of 5hrs up and 4.5hrs down, which is about right. What they don't tell you is that you may, as we did, have to wait in a two hour queue at the top to have your photograph taken on the outcrop. The trek down is a real chore as you are merely retracing your steps on the way home, which can be soul destroying. The walk starts off with a 4km trek up a VERY steep road, though you can pay extra to park your vehicle at a start point at the top of this road. You may though, as we did, feel this is cheating! Was the hike worth it? Yes, most definitely!!!!
