Itinerary description
Leaving the village of Cortijo Cabrera at first on road then tracks, this trail leads to the summit of Arreaz 919m.
Part way up, the recorded outward track takes a 'short-cut' that I would avoid, via a small building to the Cortijo and this is very overgrown. Follow the descent route instead, staying on the road and then the track. The track winds its way up with excellent views of the region, and on gaining the ridge, turn left and follow vague tracks to the summit. Caution, spikey undergrowth, you may prefer long trousers at this point.
The views from here are splendid, including the whole of Cabo de Gato, and the coast at Garrucha as well as the hills inland. Return by the same route.
