Itinerary description
The trail follows the foot path that connect the two Maten region: The Northern and the High Maten. This trail is the new part of the Lebanon Mountain Trail (LMT) section 16 starting from Jabal Daher Baidar and finish in Mtayn Village .
The trail passes by the "French Field Army Hospital" located inside the mountain (400 meter), the French Trenches during WWII, the "Al- Qaysamany Dam" , Cliff (Shir) of Hammana (aka Tallet (Hill) La Martine) , Falougha Cedars Forest, the "Maabour Ghazal" , to Jwar Al-Hawz, very old oaks trees, old mills , Atoun (kiln), apple orchards, a Roman Temple , and the Rmayl valley.
Due to security concerns in Lebanon the hike was cut short and did not make it all the way to Mtayn.
The weather was a typical beautiful fall weather with cloudy skies and no rain.

Thank you for your useful and interesting info shared with this trail.
This Saturday we will be following it regardless of weather conditions.
I would like to get from you a quick guidance regarding the way points you mentioned, sounds exciting and not good to miss them.
Dear Youssef,Thanks for reaching out. The trail is a beautiful trail and you will enjoy it. As for the waypoints, I usually mark points of interest that are either a directions guide, nice views, or a place where you can refill your water bottles. The French army field hospital is a set of underground tunnels that is nice to visit. the others are self explanatory. As you noticed, the trail stops at the Rmayl bridge because we had slow walkers and the situation in Lebanon at the time was bad to stay late on the roads. The strip from the rmayl bridge to Al Mtayn is a beautiful uphill hike that you and your friends will enjoy; if you are interested in doing it (around 3+ km), I suggest you also download my trail: 2018-11-18 Falougha - Mtein: LMT Sections 16 and part of 17 (see link below) and switch to this trail once you get to the Rmayl bridge.
