Itinerary description
The gorge of the river Monachil is spectacular.
The first part of the walk is along the river, initially more or less at the same heighth, along a track that is well trodden as this part of the walk is reaalyy a classic. Because of this fact the track can be very slippery.
As soon as you get the first of the five bridges the scenery becomes really imposing.
At the fourth bridge the possibilty presents itself to turn northwest to the Era of Los Generales. If you do that you will miss the spectacular part along the narrow walkway along the river, a stretch of the track which will regularly force you to go forward on your knees or move in a sitting position as the rockface bends over and makes it impossible to stand. Or bend backwards if you are really supple.
At the fifth bridge, on a big plain with a number of junctions, we took the track across the river and followed a broad track, giving you impressing views, up to 1120m.
Then we followed a narrow track, again with great views all around, along the ridge of Hazas Llanas and descended to the Era of Los Generales.
From here on there quite a number of tracks down on the eroded hillside.
