Itinerary description
This walk has many great views of Granada, situated at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains and into the mountains.
You could start this walk from several points as there are many parking areas.
The first part is through open country across the big area recreativa de Cumbres Verdes from which you have many great views.
As soon as we reached the edge of the woods we took a hardly visible track to Colo de Los Rabelos but on hindsight it is better to walk on a further 500 metres along the track along the edge of the woods and then turn east on a broader track.
Mirador del Fraile is a viewpoint that will give you a stunning view to the south east and to the north west and into the valley. It is also a good place to have a picknick.
From this Mirador a broad track will gradually take you down through the Cumbres Verdes, a track that you could follow right to the beginning of this walk, but then you would miss out on some amazing scenery and a number of caves.
That is why we turned south west at about a heighth of 890m.
From the caves a track goes straight to the parking place.
