Itinerary description
From Arenas, a beautifully sheltered white village, we followed the sign to the Castillo de Benthomiz, the ruins of an eleventh century Moorish castle, which must have been quite a fortification at the time spread around a mountain top with an all around view.
The track to the castle is a dirt road fortified by concrete will take you from 400 to 700 metres and has wonderful views. The view on the chain of Monte Malascalas is superb.
It is really worthwhile to make the tour on the castle grounds to get a good impression of the magnificent lay out it had.
The track down is sometimes broad and sometimes narrow, once leaving the last buildings it winds itself down through olivegroves and at times is steep and eroded but never difficult.

Nice trail! First half is along a road, after the castle a path through olive and almond groves. Good for kids with some hiking experience.
Thanks for your reaction 😊
