Itinerary description
We started this walk at the parking place of Playa de la Guardia as we wanted to approach the castle towering above us from below.
However, after the first viewpoint the track towards the castle was blocked by a gate, due to fallen (huge) rocks that block the steps higher up.
Obviously there were many people before us who had managed to climb over or go under the railing of the track in order to take the track anyway as we could see at a trodden path next to the fallen rocks. So we climbed over the railing and did the same at the gate next to the castle grounds. No problem at all.
From the castle we walked randomly through the higher situated part of Salobrena to enjoy the narrow streets and alleys, steps, and impressive viewpoints.
The Plaza del Ayutamento is a nice place to sit for a while and enjoy something to eat and drink. There is a bar/restaurant there.
From this Plaza we went up to the highest part of the town again for one more viewpoint, the Mirador of Enrique Morente, and then descended the steps to Playa de la Guardia where we went to the top of the Peñon de Salobreña to have one last impressive view of the surroundings.
