Itinerary description
One of the most difficult but rewarding trail to do. A combination of 22+ km with Asc/Dsc that will break the fittest of the fittest.
The trail started from Nahr El Dahab entrance of the reserve, up to St. George "abandoned/under renovation" monastery; afterwards we move down to lake Chouwan then we take trail 13 (a steep almost vertical climb to the village of Iibri; this trail is designated as difficult - IT IS). If you thought trail 13 is difficult, the trail from Iibri to the Qornet Mzar (highest peak of Jabal Moussa) is the inferno. from the peak, the trail started its downhill descent back to Nahr El Dahab entrance. We passed by the old (under renovation) stone houses and then the zigzag trail (a 3.75 km section of the trail that is absolutely brutal to your knees) back to the car.
Needless to say, two days after the trail and I am still aching.
It was a 10 hour hike with no breaks.
