Itinerary description
Loop trail from Mazraat en Nahr to Qannoubine (Qadisha) valley passing by: St Marina Church, Qannoubine monastery, and Mar Aboun abandoned village.
The trail started a 1200+ stairs climb with slope average of 44 degrees (see picture below); the stair climb is the hardest part of the trail because of the angle of the slope, the narrowness of the steps, and the variation in height in the steps.
The trail then levels off walking on the top of the covered water canals for about (xxx km). The trail then takes a left turn (optional if hikers are interested in visiting the cellar of the most famous hermit of all: Dario Escobar - P.S. because of his age, Dario is no longer living in his cell) to visit the hermit cells located on the side of a steep-vertical cliff.
Once finished, the trail moves back and reaches the St. Marina church and the adjacent Qannoubine monastery.
After a lunch break, the trail moved through the Qannoubine village (medieval village setting: no roads, old stone houses, etc.) then Mar Aboun (Ruins of a yester-centuries village with remnants of worshiping place).
Finally, we hit the downhill switchbacks to close the loop.
P.S. This is a challenging hike and make sure you have a minimum of 4L of water during this time of the year.

Thank you Zaki for the nice trails. I need your help please which trail in the north would you recommend during this weather??
Hi Miria,
Where in the north?
Hi Miria,
I'm one of Zahi's hiking buddies.
With this weather, better stay on the sea shore.
You can go to Selaata:

Pay a visit to: Saydet el Nourriye, visit the old tunnels, etc.
You can stay on asphalt if it's too muddy.
Enjoy
Chris
