Itinerary description

About 500m difference between the parking and the peak, rough path and very steep at some points.
1hour 20min going up, 40min descending.
Breathtaking views! Tup Kaek Beach from View Point 1, at about half way. Ao Nang and Krabi Town views from Mountain Peak. Worth the effort!
No water available on the trail.
By the way, don't trust distance signs on the trail. Thais don't really know the difference between 200m and 3Km, and it's quite confusing and discouraging if you trust those distance signs! The trail is not 3.7Km long, but 5.3Km instead, which is 50% longer than expected!!! It's not the first nor the second time with this very same issue here in Thailand...
Recorded with iPhone4 and Walkmeter App. Bad reception at some points due to vegetation.

I have followed this trail  View more

This is my main run. I've done it around 200 times over the past 7 years we lived in the province. I use the Suunto Ambit2 R GPS watch and find that the distance is about 3.7 km to the top. The vertical gain on the way up is around 500 meters.

This run / hike is under the tree canopy. There have never been monkeys on the ground, but they are in the trees. I've seen so much wildlife here. The trail is not really maintained, except by me. About 1x, sometimes 2x per year the rangers come in and rebuild the railing up the steep parts. There haven't been steps for a year now.

This is a tricky run, very technical with roots sticking out all over. Easy to roll an ankle. I've cut most roots out and I cut all the thorn bushes and vines away 1x per week.

Near the top are bees - you can hear them hum. If the noise is too loud, just turn around. I have never found their hive, but it must be close. Remember, don't swat the bees you see, they leave a scent which enrages other bees fast.

There are snakes on the trail. I've yet to see anything venomous. I have the thailandsnakes.com site and know snakes well. There are no bears, tigers, wild cats, or anything else that is going to attack you. That said, the termites, bees, and the occasional scorpion climbing a vine you just grabbed - exist and hurt a bit, but you'll get over it if stung or bitten.

This is my favorite trail around Krabi. I love it for the vertical gain, nature, and the very few people on the trail. WORTH IT!

Oops, my fastest time was 36 minutes up to the top and 22 minutes down. Not on the same day. ;)

It's a great run! I was here on 4 march 2015. The trail is well kept and easy to follow. Some parts were pretty steep so I had to slow down to a hike a few times. But after a while the trail becomes less steep and is more like rolling hills, so excellent running there. Although I did not see any, there were definitely gibbons in the trees. I heard their call very near to the left and right of the trail. The view from the summit at 0730 in the morning was one of the most amazing views I have ever seen. On the summit I found a Brazilian photo-journalist who was covering this area for an outdoor magazine, and quite rightly so. He was shooting some amazing pictures.

It took me 53 minutes to get from the Tubkaek Resort to the summit. Here is my gpx file: https://www.evernote.com/l/ADDi0f7xOdZLhJRgBKSLdPtGWKRRCBN6L8Q

Thank you for sharing the track and the additional information in the original post and the comments!
